Saving Property for Local Nonprofit, Extended Hands of Hope

Extended Hands of Hope, a Colorado nonprofit, offers safe housing and supportive services to sex trafficking survivors, empowering them to move forward with hope and dignity. At their main site, they operate transitional housing, counseling services, and a school. Due to the nature of their services and necessity of safety and privacy, the location of their property is vitally important. When their landlord gave them short notice about selling the property, Extended Hands of Hope needed a solution fast. Executive Director Kristen Harness adored their current property and expressed how arduous the original process was to find the right facility for their services. This displacement would not only have been disruptive to their ability to care for the community they serve, but would likely end its mission as a private, secure location was critical for their services.

Sharing Connexion Inc. acquired the facility with a combination of debt and equity, so Extended Hands of Hope could preserve their location and mission. Sharing Connexion Inc. will be leasing the facility to Extended Hands of Hope for a term of three years, so that EHH has enough time to engage in a capital fundraising campaign to raise funds and acquire its facility. Sharing Connexion Inc. entered into a purchase agreement with Extended Hands of Hope and will hold the purchase value constant so that Extended Hands of Hope will not be forced to compete against rising market rates. This preserves the property for the nonprofit and also creates an important float period needed to secure funding.

Sharing Connexion Inc. greatly enjoyed working with Extended Hands of Hope. We were proud to work alongside them supporting their mission to provide safe housing and services to girls coming out of sex trafficking. They currently house 5 girls on the property, but Kristen Harness has a big vision when she owns the property, to further develop and expand their housing. Sharing Connexion Inc. is glad to serve as the bridge for the next phase of growth!
