Bud’s Warehouse is best known as a Denver home improvement store, but they are actually more than that. Bud’s Warehouse is a nonprofit that focuses on job training programs and rehabilitative hiring practices for those with significant barriers to employment. Bud’s Warehouse takes in donations of materials from contractors and gives them a second life, avoiding the unnecessary growth of landfills. Bud’s Warehouse is a nonprofit social venture out of Belay Enterprises, a nonprofit that creates and incubates nonprofit businesses that employ and train individuals rebuilding lives from addiction, homelessness, and prison.
When Bud’s Warehouse was being displaced from their current facility, they desired to expand their warehouse and re-locate to better serve their clientele. Their focus was to raise capital funds from impact investing groups instead of through traditional banking. Sharing Connexion Inc. was able to assist with its capital structure and provided a key loan toward the acquisition of their new property. Bud’s Warehouse is excited about this new location, as it is closer to their clientele who was also being gentrified toward the suburbs. According to their data, they will be able to increase sales with this new location, and ownership will allow them to be a secure part of the community in the future.
