To the Sharing Connexion Community:
Emily Nilsen, our Operations Director is resigning with February 15th as her last day. Over four years, Emily has led and grown Sharing Connexion from a start-up to a recognizable nonprofit. As the first staff member, she has positioned us for future growth and expansion. We are proud of her tenure and would like to share with you some highlights of her time at Sharing Connexion.
- Emily oversaw the successful execution of our programming and projects, resulting in over $5 million invested in community-benefiting real estate projects, assisting 20 nonprofits with real estate expertise, and support for the development of 535 affordable and workforce housing units.
- Emily led Sharing Connexion through the creation of our new business plan, the development of our brand, and the execution of numerous new internal systems – ranging in complexity from our loan policy to our donor database.
- Emily’s leadership elevated Sharing Connexion’s reach throughout the community. This included speaking at events, serving on committees, overseeing the launch of our first Community Connexions event, and growing our network by 400%.
Emily will be taking some time to rest and spend with family before her next adventure. On behalf of all of us on the Board, we wish her well in all her future endeavors and extend our gratitude for her hard work and dedication to Sharing Connexion. She served the organization at a critical time in our early development, and she has positioned us for continued success as we scale Sharing Connexion.
While her era comes to a close, we are incredibly excited about what is next for Sharing Connexion. Our vision for the future is strong. We recently onboarded a new Senior Vice President, Steve Shineman, who comes to us from Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation. He is an incredibly experienced fundraiser and is passionate about expanding the Real Estate Donation program, having seen it work firsthand as a previous client. We are excited to welcome Steve to the team.
We have appointed an internal search committee to lead the recruitment of our new Director position. We will share a job posting soon and anticipate excellent candidates who are inspired by our mission – to provide affordable housing organizations and nonprofits with real estate expertise, funding, and preservation. We will follow up soon with additional announcements about our transition plan, including interim staff.
If you have any questions during the transition, please contact me at eanderson@sharingconnexion.org and we will get back to you soon.
Sincerely,
Ed Anderson
President, Sharing Connexion Inc.
